hey whats up guys my name is andrew and i have a 99 spyder gs with very simple mods nothing major. 2.5" greddy cat back exhaust with a test pipe, upper strut tower brace, and a aftermarket stereo system. i have had my dsm for over a year but it is only on the road for less. it was an auto car but the transmission blew so i converted it to a 5 speed manual gst transmission. the car was also hit and sitting in a junk yard when i bought it. i have done a lot of work to the car to get it to the current state that it is in and i plan on doing more work to it but nothing major because it is my DD.

Welcome to the site. Post a project log, I'd love to see pics of the 5 speed swap. One thing I've always wanted to do was use the 2.4 botom end with the 2.0 head (turbo'd of course). Any plans like that in the future?

Advance auto or autozone should be able to get plastidip. Dont do it half assed, take the tires off the wheels and strip the old paint first before you paint them or its not going to last.

not with plasti-dip no stripping required and please leave the tires on bc 99% of shops are gonna fuck em up when the remount the tire.

I get plasti dip for less than $6 a can at home depot. Sprayed 3/4's my car so far but weather has stopped me from finishing it.

I got a project log i will post an album as well on my plasti-dipped 92 GSX

I advised removing the tires because that's the only way to do it "right" without it looking cheap. I work at Goodyear and whenever i get painted wheels in i set the machine arm a bit away from wheel so when the tire goes on the arm never touches the wheel, so no damage occurs. Also i would only put crimp on weights on the inside of the wheel and sticky weights for the outside weights so the paint doesn't get messed up. All in all its personal preference as far as removing the tires.

thats in regards to regular paints though, i am speaking of plasti-dip specifically, and when tires are mounted on dipped rims its almost 100% it will tear. the tire itself grabs the rubber compound on the surface of the wheel around the rim and tears it downward.

Keep in mind Plasti-dip is a temporary solution to paint that allows you to remove and change colors at you whims without damaging the original finish, Gallery has some plasti-dip shots if you are interested in seeing what i am talking about.
